Yet again, Tatty convinced myself and El Grumpo to go out to lunch with him. It wasn't hard to do, because as soon as he said "Italian food" to me, I was basically like:
So we are seated and the waitress was nice, not very pushy and very quick to refill the glasses... so awesome waitress! I got the garlic bread as an app:
Not much to share... so I didn't...
And the bread quickly became this:
So Tatty Tatty Too told us that they make their own noodles here, so I was pretty pysched at this thought! So I ordered the chicken carbonara (oh, did I mention that I had to pay extra for the chicken part? It was just carbonara! Who eats pasta without meat added? Who eats ANYTHING without meat added??)
So once they bring out my meal, it looks like this:
If you think it looks like it was prepared and then sat under a heat lamp for 30 minutes, then you won't be surprised when I tell you that it tasted like that too...
The noodles were rather stiff and chewy and the chicken was the same. The noodles were a mile long and because they were so stiff that it was easier to "Lady and the Tramp" the shit outta them, rather than try to bite or saw the noodle apart...
But the waitress kept up with those drinks... so I had plenty of tasty beverage to wash down my rough, tasteless pasta.
Overall, I wouldn't really recommend it... plus, it's downtown so the fight through traffic just isn't worth it to me... but then again, not much is worth fighting Honolulu traffic.
So what'cha think? Where's your favorite Italian place? What's your fav thing to get there? If you were an Italian soda... what flavor would you be?
COMMENT PEOPLE!!!
Favorite Italian place is Pepperchinos in Conshohocken Pennsylvania because one night I saw the owner try to jump a broom handle and ending up swan diving onto the tile and grout. Thank god for a video phone. The manicotti is notable too.
ReplyDeleteLoving the Blog btw
ReplyDeleteThanks buddy, and you better believe I want to see this swan dive vid! LOL
